| Mario Santana Quintero Assistant Professor R. Lemaire International Centre for Conservation, Univeristy of Leuven (KU Leuven)
He completed studies of architecture in 1994 at the Universidad Central de Venezuela. In 2003 he obtained a PhD with a dissertation entitled ‘The use of three-dimensional documentation and dissemination techniques in studying built heritage’ at the R. Lemaire International Centre for Conservation (University of Leuven). Besides his research experience, he has been responsible for the Integration of digital documentation Techniques in the module IPW of the Master in conservation of historic buildings and towns (R. Lemaire Centre for Conservation, University of Leuven); as well as, developing a curriculum on Photogrammetry, 3D Laser Scanning and 3D modeling at the University of Applied Sciences St Lieven. He is currently the Vice President of the ICOMOS Scientific Committee on Heritage Documentation (CIPA) and executive officer of the Virtual Systems and Multimedia Society.
Furthermore, he has been working since 1997 as Cultural Heritage documentation consultant for the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Culture Organization (UNESCO), UNESCO’s World Heritage Centre, World Monuments Fund, Getty Conservation Institute, United Nations Development programme (UNDP), University of Leuven, The International Centre for the Study of the Preservation and Restoration of Cultural Property (ICCROM), University of Pennsylvania, Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage, Petra National Trust, University of Applied Sciences of St Lieven, and the University of Aachen RWTH. The projects have been carried out in Afghanistan, Belgium, China, Cyprus, Egypt, France, Germany, Jordan, India, Iraq, Italy, Kazakhstan, Sudan, the Sultanate of Oman, Syria, United Arab Emirates, USA and Yemen.
